The Best, Shortest Short Story You’ll Ever Read

NOW IN A LOVELY BOOK!Two posts from me in one day! I had to share this: The author on this site sponsored a writing contest, in which writers had to submit a story of 150 words or less, based on the cover of her soon-to-be-published book. The cover of Write to Be Published features a fountain pen with red splatters on a page (blood? an editor’s vicious red ink?).

She just posted the winners, and while they’re all good, the first place winner is amazing. Author Jenny Savage created a complete story, creepy and suspenseful, with a wonderfully unpredictable ending–in just 143 words. Check it out.

*UPDATED: The link seems to have been lost when the author changed her URL. Boo.
